- X-Ray and Ultrasound
- In-house Laboratory
Surgical operations are done in our on-site operating theatre. We routinely use the safest, most modern anaesthetics available to give your pet a smooth and safe anaesthetic ensuring a rapid recovery. We advise routine pre-anaesthetic blood tests for all pets over two years old. Most surgical patients go home the same day, although hospitalisation facilities are available if needed. Please feel free to get in touch if you want to discuss your pet's surgical requirements.
We use diagnostic equipment to investigate conditions which aren't always evident during a clinical examination. Both x-rays and ultrasound are examples of medical imaging. They are painless and non-invasive. We use a modern digital x-ray system to examine your pet, usually under sedation or general anaesthetic. This allows us to see not only problems with bones, but also the body organs as well such as heart, lungs, kidneys, liver and bladder. Our high-quality portable ultrasound machine allows us to scan your pet to check for pregnancy and do more detailed scans of the heart or abdominal organs. This can usually be done conscious, although occasionally sedation may be needed.
Using the latest technology, blood samples can be tested in our practice laboratory which means we can get results much faster. This is very useful as it enables us to offer routine pre-anaesthetic blood testing to all pets over two-years-old and on younger pets if required. We can also send samples to an external laboratory if further tests are needed.
